Courage to Quit – Smoking Cessation Program

We are excited to introduce a new program now available at The Therapy Centre: Courage to Quit® for smoking cessation. Courage to Quit® is a six-session program designed to help adults quit smoking. It is comprehensive, research-based and delivered one-on-one by Dr. Jenn Deffendall, Clinical & Rehabilitation Psychologist. Each session provides information, practice skills and support to help people reach their smoke-free goals.
Program Elements Include:
- Education about Smoking and Addiction
- Skills to Identify and Manage Triggers
- Preparing for Quit Day
- Strategies to Deal with Withdrawal and Cravings
- Steps to Increase Confidence in Staying Smoke-Free
- Letting Go of Smoking Culture
Courage to Quit® combines Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) principles to improve success in quitting smoking. Studies have shown that those who complete this program are 5-6 times more likely to quit smoking and stay smoke-free compared to those who do not get help. Courage to Quit® provides a low-cost, time-limited option for individuals who are looking to quit smoking.
Clients can self-refer or be referred by a professional. In many cases, extended health benefits may provide full or partial coverage of the costs of treatment.
