Jackie Tapper-Atkinson has been in private practice in Oakville since 2006.
She has over 15 years of experience in providing individual, family and group therapy for teens and adults, with extensive experience in treating depression, anxiety and relationship issues. She also has specialized training in treating body image and eating disorders.
Prior to entering private practice, Jackie served as Clinical Team Leader at the Renfrew Center, a treatment facility for women with eating disorders in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jackie also served as Senior Therapist for the Women’s Trauma Program within the Princeton Health Care System in New Jersey.
Jackie has particular interest in the application of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to the treatment of eating disorders, and a range of anxiety and mood disorders. As well, she has been working on the integration of the Family-Based approach and EFT to the treatment of adolescents with eating disorders.
Jackie earned a Master of Social Service from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and is a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists, and a member of the Eating Disorder Association of Canada.
