Alcina Coutinho, M.Sc.


Alcina has a Master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Behavioural Neuroscience from McMaster University. In addition, she has completed graduate coursework to register with the Behaviour Analysis Certification Board and is currently completing coursework to register with College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists and/or Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.

Alcina currently works in private practice under the supervision of a clinical psychologist conducting assessments for children with developmental concerns such as learning disorders, ADHD, giftedness, and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Alcina has more than 9 years experience working as a psychometrist with ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development, conducting diagnostic, psychoeducational, and behavioural assessments for children with ASD and other developmental concerns. She has worked on an inter-professional team of developmental pediatricians, clinical psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, and behaviour therapists, providing a holistic approach to assessment and treatment of children.

Alcina also has several years of experience as a Senior Therapist with Autism Services at ErinoakKids, Trillium Health Centre, and McMaster Children’s Hospital. She used her training in Applied Behaviour Analysis to conduct behavioural assessments, write treatment plans, and provide family-focused coaching to parents and caregivers. She also conducted workshops and consulted with school boards in the Halton and Peel regions through the Connections for Student program
