Ann Gelsheimer, Clinical and School Psychological Associate

Ann Gelsheimer, M.Ed., D.T.S., M.A.

Ann is a registered Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She has completed two Master’s degrees in psychology (Counselling and Clinical Psychology), and all requirements but her dissertation for a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. She is a lifetime member of the International Psi Chi Honour Society in Psychology.

Ann is currently working in private practice providing assessment and treatment in the areas of clinical and school psychology for children, adolescents, and adults. She also teaches at the Adler School for Professional Psychology in their Post-Graduate Assessment Certificate Program in Toronto, and serves as a Psychological Consultant for the Upper Grand District School Board. Ann has extensive experience providing comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, teens, and also adults attending post-secondary education. She also offers psychovocational assessments for teens and adults who are seeking a new career path.

Ann has specialized training and experience in the areas of learning difficulties, attention problems, recovery from trauma, mild to moderate addictions, grief and loss, supporting persons with cancer and their caregivers, and responding to spiritual concerns as a part of psychological treatment (when requested by clients).

She welcomes working with persons of diverse cultures, spiritual or religious traditions, and sexual orientations. Ann is known for her gentle, calming presence and sense of humour. She enjoys technology and is able to provide distance counselling using secure online video conferencing provided by Medeo. (Medeo is free and simple to download and use for patients).

Previously, Ann worked for many years at Seneca College as a Special Needs Counsellor, Professor, and Coordinator of the Seneca Assessment and Brief Intervention Clinic, which she initiated and developed. She has also worked in hospital and community mental health settings.

Ann Gelsheimer works at both the Oakville Location and the Hamilton Location
