Dr. Jenn Deffendall, C. Psych
Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychologist
Dr. Jenn Deffendall is a registered Psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Central Florida.
She currently works in private practice providing comprehensive assessment and treatment services to adults in the areas of clinical and rehabilitation psychology.
Dr. Deffendall has extensive training and experience working with a range of problems including depression, anxiety and phobias, post-traumatic stress, adjustment to health-related conditions including chronic pain and cancer, and addictions (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and other substances, gambling, internet, sex and pornography) and sleep therapy.
She primarily works within a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) framework, with the ability to integrate elements of specialized treatments (such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies as needed to ensure treatment is effective.
Dr. Deffendall’s professional background is diverse: she has trained and worked in private practice, inpatient and outpatient hospital clinics, residential treatment, community counselling and university settings. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Dr. Deffendall’s approach to treatment is warm, caring and collaborative. She builds a strong therapeutic relationship with clients with an emphasis on transparency and fostering resilience, which forms the basis for working together to understand and develop the skills needed to manage difficult life problems.
