Dr. Laura Smith, C.Psych
Dr. Laura Smith is a registered psychologist who received her MA and PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa. At The Therapy Centre, Dr. Smith’s focus is psychoeducational assessments and clinical supervision.
Psychoeducational assessments are conducted for individuals questioning or updating assessments for learning disorders, ADHD, giftedness, and psychodiagnostic evaluations. In her clinical practice, Dr. Smith has a special interest in supporting parents and caregivers, relying heavily on emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT) and attachment theory to help caregivers support their loved ones and repair family bonds.
She also uses Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) as a compass when working with individual clients across the lifespan suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, life stressors, and relationship difficulties.
As an integrative therapist, Dr. Smith also draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in addition to Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
