Dr. Maria Antoniou is a registered Clinical Psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (OISE/UT).
She currently works in private practice providing both assessment and treatment services in the areas of counselling and clinical psychology.
Dr. Antoniou has a breadth of experience providing assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, adults and families. She primarily works within a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach to treat anxiety and mood disorders, stress management, self-esteem difficulties, and behavioural problems.
Dr. Antoniou has a special interest in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders with over 10 years experience in the area. She was trained at The Hospital for Sick Children and with the Maudsley Institute for Family Based Therapy.
Dr. Antoniou’s professional background includes positions at The William Osler Health System in the Adult Day Treatment Program and Child and Adolescent Program, The Hospital for Sick Children, and the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association.
She was also the Chair of the Body Image Coalition of Peel. She works closely with her clients to set attainable goals that can be achieved and sustained. Dr. Antoniou is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the Canadian Psychological Association.
