Dr. Mary Lees is a registered clinical psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario. She completed her early training in London, Ontario at University Hospital, London Psychiatric Hospital, Victoria Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Children’s Psychiatric Research Institute
From 1994-2015, Dr. Lees was a staff psychologist at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, where she worked in Inpatient and Outpatient Mental Health, Maternal/Child Care, Child and Adolescent Services, the Anxiety Disorders Program, and the Eating Disorders Program. She has particular expertise in the area of anxiety disorders and eating disorders and worked in Credit Valley Hospital’s adult outpatient and intensive, Inpatient and Day Hospital Eating Disorders Programs from 2001-2015. Dr. Lees has extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but has also had training in other therapeutic models, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. In 2015, she completed a year-long certification in Positive Psychology at the Whole Being Institute in Massachusetts. She has since expanded her work to include a focus on well-being and the assessment and application of human strengths. She also offers services in the areas of stress management, work adjustment, mood disorders, relationship issues and behavioural issues.
Prior to joining The Therapy Centre, Dr. Lees worked in private practice in Mississauga for 17 years. She has a strong interest in clinical and community education and has run workshops on eating disorders and positive psychology in both hospital and community settings.
Dr. Lees is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Canadian Psychological Association, and the Canadian Positive Psychology Association.
