Dr. Tara Smith, C.Psych.

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Tara Smith is a registered Clinical Psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (OISE/UT). She works with children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Smith completed her early training in Ottawa, Ontario at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. She also previously worked in school settings. Dr. Smith’s professional background includes over 10 years of experience as a staff Psychologist at Trillium Health Partners (Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga) in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program.

Dr. Smith has a breadth of experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders, selective mutism, tic disorders, emotional dysregulation, adjustment difficulties, behavioural problems, self-esteem difficulties, perfectionism and stress management. She has a special interest in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other related disorders (i.e. Trichotillomania) in children and adolescents.

Dr. Smith has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but also has training in other therapeutic models, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Dr. Smith provides a warm, safe and supportive environment for all clients. She strongly believes in utilizing a collaborative approach that incorporates families in the treatment process.

Dr. Tara Smith is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the Ontario Psychological Association.
