Julie Barasevic is a Registered Social Worker who received her Master’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) with a clinical focus. Currently she works in private practice supporting individuals, and couples through various life challenges. She counsels adolescents, adults and seniors.

Julie specializes in trauma therapy. She received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Trauma Therapy (EMDR), which has extensive research in successively supporting people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Julie also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) which uses the body as a resource of wisdom to help people heal from their traumas. The body remembers everything and holds onto traumas; both EMDR and SP address clearing the body. In addition, she trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples and individuals.

She works with a variety of life concerns, such as mood disorders, anxietydepressionstressgrief, self-esteem, healthy living, perfectionismsleep therapy, and interpersonal and relationship issues. In addition, Julie is a Mindfulness-Based counsellor, and teaches coping strategies and mindful living. She feels it is important to teach her clients how to cope through life outside of the therapy room. She appreciates using Mindfulness Self-Compassion work with her clients. Julie also uses Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Additionally, she is a Hypnotherapist and Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner (NLP) with over 15 years of experience. She specializes in Spiritual Regression work for past lives, and life between lives. She offers hypnotherapy for birthing, pain management, self-esteem, weight management, smoking cessation, and establishing movement towards obtaining life goals.

Previously, Julie counselled in private practice in Oakville and worked alongside a multidisciplinary team with a holistic focus. She was also a medical social worker providing community care in Hamilton.

In her free time, you can find her out in nature, around animals, doing hot yoga, and travelling.

Julie is compassionate, non-judgmental and her therapeutic approach is client-centred. She offers a supportive, safe environment so clients feel comfortable being their authentic self. She feels honoured working alongside her courageous clients, witnessing their lives unfold into new beginnings.

Julie is a Registered Social Worker and is part of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
