Privacy

Information shared between you and your therapist is strictly confidential. The staff at The Therapy Centre understands that you value your privacy and we seek to maintain strict standards of confidentiality with respect to client information. Client information is not released to anyone without your written permission, except as required by law in Ontario. Under the law, we are required to break confidentiality under four specific circumstances:

  • In circumstances involving imminent risk of physical harm to oneself or another, your therapist would inform an appropriate health care professional or the police of a client’s intention to end his/her life or harm someone else.
  • In cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, your therapist must immediately report their concerns to the Children’s Aid Society.
  • In cases where your therapist discovers that a regulated health care professional (doctor, nurse, psychologist, etc) has abused a client. This must be reported to the practitioner’s own regulatory body.
  • If a client’s file is subpoenaed by a court of law, the therapist would release the file.
  • In cases where a person in a long-term care facility or retirement home is at risk of abuse, neglect, or being defrauded,
  • As required by police in the case of a missing person.

Fees

While psychological services are not covered by O.H.I.P, most extended health insurance plans cover services provided by registered psychologists,  registered social workers and registered psychotherapists. Clients with work related problems may be eligible for coverage through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Individuals receiving long-term disability benefits may also be eligible for insurance benefits.  Our fees are set at (or below) the current rate suggested by the Ontario Psychological Association.  There is no HST billed on services of psychologists and social workers in Ontario, however HST is charged on all services provided by registered psychotherapists.

At The Therapy Centre we offer variable rates in order to provide options to our clients.

Please check with your insurance provider to determine your annual coverage for psychological services.

Of note, the Ontario Psychological Association offers a recommended fee for Psychologists to charge for services rendered. If you are interested in learning more, please go to www.psych.on.ca

Appointment Cancellation Policy

When an appointment is booked with a clinician, that time is set aside for that specific individual.  As such, we require notification 24 business hours in advance to cancel the appointment.  This policy helps facilitate a booking for another client in need.  We reserve the right to charge the full session fee for appointments that are missed or cancelled with less than 24 business hours notice. Extenuating circumstances are handled by clinicians on a case-by-case basis; clients are encouraged to contact their clinician should they have any questions or concerns.

Method of Payment

Fees can be paid by Visa, Mastercard, Debit, etransfer, cheque or cash. Clients pay at the beginning or end of each session.

Fees for clinically related telephone calls, letters and reports completed outside of treatment sessions are billed in 10 minute intervals at the clinician’s hourly rate.

Referrals

Individuals may contact the centre directly to arrange an appointment for an assessment or treatment. No professional referral is required, although referrals from various professionals, such as family physicians, psychiatrists, mental health clinicians, lawyers, insurance companies, rehabilitation, etc are welcome.

To book an appointment or to enquire about services at our centre, you can contact us via telephone at (289) 291-0205 or by filling out the form on our contact page.
