Time to be Mindful about Mindfulness
Are you mindful about mindfulness in your life?
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them as good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.
Mindfulness helps individuals to:
- Recognize, slow down or stop automatic and habitual reactions.
- Respond more effectively to complex or difficult situations.
- See situations more clearly and generate more creative solutions.
- Achieve balance and resilience at work and at home.
Mindfulness is for everyone, young or old. Although they may have originated in the Orient, the benefits of mindfulness and meditation are now relatively mainstream. There is no specific religious component to mindfulness – anyone, regardless of belief system, can enjoy the benefits of mindfulness. Research has shown mindfulness to be particularly effective in reducing anxiety, depression, stress and chronic pain.
Preliminary research is also showing positive results for application to other clinical issues such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
At The Therapy Centre we offer individualized treatment programs on Emotion Coaching and Mindfulness. Please refer your patients for a free phone consultation.
