Alexandra Podgorska is a Registered Psychotherapist who received her Master’s degree from Yorkville University in Counselling Psychology. Alexandra currently works in private practice providing services to individuals ages 12 and over. Her areas of focus include trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, coping skills, depression, sleep therapy, perfectionism, relationship issues, self-esteem, and stress.
Alexandra takes on an eclectic approach to therapy by taking into consideration a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies in order to create an ideal treatment plan to address one’s specific needs.
Alexandra uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and a Client-Centered Approach.
She also has completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Trauma Therapy (EMDR) as well as Brain Spotting, a focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.
Additionally, Alexandra has completed specialized training through the trauma-focused Wounded Warrior program (supporting veterans, first responders, and frontline workers – and their family members) as well as a CE course in Reproductive Trauma, Infertility, and Loss – to help offer compassionate, evidence-informed counselling to individuals navigating these unique challenges with care and understanding.
Alexandra is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP).
