Allison Ross is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers. She received a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from McMaster University. As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C), Allison has specialised training approved by Postpartum Support International. She has 15+ years of experience working in community and hospital-based mental health settings.
Allison provides a warm therapeutic space for individuals (16+) who are experiencing challenges with mood, anxiety, self -esteem, emotion regulation, stress or adjustment to a variety of life challenges and transitions. She also assists adults who want to make changes to behaviours associated with disordered eating and poor body image.
Allison has a special interest in working with women during the perinatal period, who may also be struggling with anxiety, depression and/or the grief associated with miscarriage, pregnancy loss and infertility.
Within her collaborative client centred approach, Allison draws on evidence-based treatments and trauma informed principles to develop a plan of intervention best suited to the needs of each individual. She has experience and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Allison enjoys supporting others to build on their existing strengths and to explore new ways of coping. She is an authentic and enthusiastic therapist and is honoured to partner with individuals as they journey towards improved emotional well-being.
