Registered Social Worker

Marlene Almeida is a Registered Social Worker who received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto specializing in mental health. Currently she works in private practice supporting individuals (ages 16+) who are living with anxiety, depression, stress, low-self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal issues, relationship issues and parenting challenges.  Marlene has a special interest in supporting Transitional Age Youth and post-secondary students navigating life transitions.

Marlene has worked in the mental health field for over 8 years in a variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health centres, schools and residential programs. This has allowed Marlene to develop a deep and broad understanding of how mental health challenges impact individuals in all areas of their lives.

Marlene utilizes a variety of evidence- based therapeutic approaches tailored to the individual needs of her clients. She has training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Trauma Informed Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches.

Marlene is passionate about taking a collaborative and person-centred approach in therapy. She works with clients to build on existing strengths while also sharing new skills and practical coping strategies to improve well-being. She enjoys providing a safe space that is warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental. Clients find Marlene relatable and easy to talk to.

Marlene is a Registered Social Worker and is in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).

Marlene Almeida works at the Oakville Location and offers virtual services throughout Ontario.
