Wajma Omer is a Registered Psychotherapist and holds an MSc. in Mental Health Psychology from the University of Liverpool. Wajma has over 15 years’ experience in providing psychotherapy and mental health support to adults, youth, and families, addressing issues such as stress management, ADHD, emotional difficulties, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, parenting, and family conflict.
Wajma is passionate about using a holistic and client-centred approach in establishing therapeutic alliance with her clients to support them in developing solutions and coping strategies to manage their emotional well-being. Her main framework includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SBT), and elements of Motivational Interviewing (MI). She also has extensive training in Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST).
Aside from her private practice, Wajma has been working at an accredited children’s mental health agency in Toronto for over 14 years providing individual and family therapy as well as psycho-educational support groups for parents and youth.
Previously she has also worked as an addiction counsellor at an ethno-specific mental health agency providing addiction counselling to youth using a harm reduction approach. Wajma also provides therapy and psychoeducation in Dari for those clients seeking language specific support.
Wajma is in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
