Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

With an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, and a Bachelor of Education, Kerensa brings a deep understanding of human development, learning, and emotional wellbeing, to her therapeutic work. For nearly 20 years, she has worked as an elementary school teacher, driven by a passion for helping people of all ages navigate the challenges and transitions that life presents.

Kerensa believes in celebrating individuality and diversity, and offers a warm, client-centered approach, that is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect. She is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals and couples feel supported and heard. Whether exploring difficult emotions and behaviours, or simply gaining alternative perspectives, Kerensa prioritizes deep listening and collaborative exploration, to help clients move toward healing, rediscover their strength, and increase self-awareness- on their own terms.

Operating from a trauma-informed lens and a belief that everyone’s unique story should be honoured, Kerensa strives to meet clients where they are, by working alongside them to set meaningful goals, develop healthy coping strategies, and foster empowerment. She utilizes an eclectic model of therapy tailored to meet the specific needs of each client, with an integrative approach drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution- Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory (FST), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, as well as a blend of Psychodynamic theories.

Kerensa provides services to adults and couples, focusing on relationship issues, emotional distress, anxiety, stress management, depression, and self-esteem. She works at the Hamilton and Oakville locations and offers virtual services throughout Ontario.

Kerensa is working towards becoming registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and is supervised by Tammy Benwell, MSW, RSW.
