Psychological Associate (Supervised Practice)

Shankari Sharma has a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and she has also completed three years of Ph.D. studies in Clinical Psychology. She is currently working toward registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Her areas of interest and proficiency include diagnostic assessment and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), first responder servicesdepressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, assertiveness, stress and burnout, anger management, addictions, and personality disorders.

She has a particular interest in the treatment of PTSD, trauma – and stressor-related disorders and the variety of individual and interpersonal sequelae of traumatic experiences.

Shankari has extensive training and specialization in providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in a variety of settings. She also has the training and ability to integrate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method, as needed to ensure effective treatment.

At the Therapy Centre, Shankari provides individual, family and couple therapy for adults (18+). She continuously educates herself on LGBTQ2+ concerns, anti-racism efforts, indigenous issues in Canada, and immigration-related and refugee-related mental health concerns. She is dedicated to learning about the mental health needs of Ontario’s diverse communities and offering evidence-based assessment and treatment tailored to clients’ unique needs.
