Shankari Sharma holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently completing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She has 10+ years of experience in private practice and hospital settings, and she is an autonomously registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO). She provides psychological services to adult individuals, couples, and families across Ontario.
Her clinical work includes psychological assessment, counselling, and evidence-based treatment for PTSD and traumatic stress, related to childhood abuse and neglect, traumatic loss, workplace injuries and WSIB involvement, and trauma in first responder and public safety populations. She also provides psychodiagnostic assessment, counselling, and evidence-based treatment for depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, insomnia, gender dysphoria, gender-affirming surgical readiness, addictions, personality disorders, and challenges related to relationships, sexuality, assertiveness, stress, burnout, and anger.
Shankari has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrates additional therapeutic approaches as appropriate, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method. Her work is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in trauma-focussed and evidence-based practice.
At The Therapy Centre, she provides psychological services in person in Toronto and virtually throughout Ontario. She is committed to ongoing learning in the areas of LGBTQ2+ mental health, anti-racism in clinical practice, Indigenous mental health in Canada, and the mental health needs of immigrant and refugee populations. She is dedicated to offering culturally responsive, socially aware psychological services that honour the diverse realities of clients’ lives.
